Fuel leak identified, repairs to take a month, says Sawant; rules out sabotage

PANAJI: Ruling out sabotage as the cause of the petroleum leak at Matvem, Dabolim, chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the source of the leak has been identified. Sawant blamed Zuari Indian Oil įhi Ventures Pvt Ltd for not maintaining the fuel supply line and said that repairs and replacement of the ageing pipeline will take at least one month. He also said that the state government would ensure that the contaminated wells in the area are cleaned, desilted and restored The chief minister said that the South Goa collector has been asked to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on the lapses, based on which action - if deemed necessary - will be taken.
